After Midnite’s Blair Garner To Give Listeners A Day-In-The-Life View Of Scotty McCreery

LOS ANGELES, May 4, 2012 – After MidNite host Blair Garner will travel to Garner, N.C. today, May 4, to spend a day in the life of country star Scotty McCreery. Garner will sit down with the North Carolina native for a candid conversation about his journey from high school, to winning season 10 of American Idol, to becoming Country music’s rising star. In addition, Garner will attend one of McCreery’s baseball games, followed by a dinner gathering at the McCreery home, where he will speak candidly with McCreery’s family, teammates, fans, high school principal and “Miss Garner 2012” Johna Edmonds. Exclusive audio and video from the special visit will be featured on After MidNite and www.AfterMidNite.com next week.

“Scotty has had such an impact on the country music world as an American Idol winner AND for prioritizing his education while pursuing a career in the music industry,” said Garner, who recently discovered his ancestors settled Garner, North Carolina. “We thought it would be fun to go and catch Scotty in his own backyard for a change instead of having him come to our studio. The town has really rolled out the red carpet for us, and we can’t wait to meet everyone and catch Scotty on the field!”

McCreery, who put high school on hold to audition for American Idol, made chart history by becoming the first country artist to debut an album at number one the Billboard 200 chart. He was recently honored as the fan-voted “New Artist of the Year” at the 2012 ACM Awards. McCreery has also received two 2012 Billboard Music Award nominations for the all-genre “Top New Artist” and “Top Country Album” for Clear As Day, and a 2012 CMT Music Award nomination in the “USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year” category for his The Trouble With Girls video. After finishing up his concert tour with Brad Paisley this spring, McCreery decided to return to Garner Magnet High School to complete his senior year and reprise his role as the varsity baseball team’s relief pitcher. ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ Performed By Co-Writer Jon Randall

One of our good friends on Facebook and Twitter shared this video a while back (Thanks Robin). Like Robin, I love to hear writers sing their songs. Whiskey Lullaby was recorded by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss, but was co-written by Jon Randall and songwriting legend Bill Anderson. I love this version by Jon below. Enjoy!

P.S. I’ve also included Brad and Alison’s music video below.

Today Was A Bad Day For Gary Allan Three Years Ago – Why?

Gary Allan may ‘Get Off On The Pain’ of life on the road, but I don’t think he was getting off on the pain that happened to him two years ago today. On this day in 2009, a jealous woman vandalized Gary’s home.

It seems that Katherine Walker was a little bit mad that another woman was visiting Gary, so she decided to throw his patio furniture into his pool, smash some potted plants and steal some clothes out of the car of the woman who was visiting Gary. Not exactly a happy memory for Mr. Allan I’m sure…

Julie Roberts Dedicates New Song “Sweet Carolina” To Alma Mater, University Of South Carolina

New Song Currently Available for Purchase Via iTunes & CD Baby – Preview HERE

Nashville, Tenn. (May 3, 2012) – As a part of the University of South Carolina‘s (USC) ‘Carolina Promise‘ campaign, USC alum and country music artist Julie Roberts has written and recorded “Sweet Carolina,” a special song honoring her home state and beloved University.

According to USC, the ‘Carolina Promise’ campaign is its “Commitment – or promise – to students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and the communities we serve that we will continue to lead the way to improve the quality of life for all in our state and world. Regarding specific goals, Carolina’s Promise will raise much-needed funding for undergraduate, graduate and professional student scholarships, for promising faculty research and excellence in teaching, for innovative, relevant programs that will help solve some of society’s biggest issues, and for creating a modern, state-of-the-art learning and living environment through facilities and technologies that ensures our students’ success.”

Roberts is a witness to the University’s promise and the academic and personal frameworks it builds.

“I went to the University of South Carolina-Lancaster my first two years of college and received an amazing education and strong foundation for the rest of my life,” she says. “I was raised a Gamecock fan and most of my family are graduates from the University of South Carolina.”

Co-written and produced by Jason Collum, “Sweet Carolina” gives Roberts a way to help out the campaign and honor the place she calls home.

“Writing this song for the University felt like something I was supposed to do,” she says. “The University has given my family so much and I wanted to help this campaign in a way that I could, so I wrote and recorded ‘Sweet Carolina.’ It was fun thinking about the University, the students, the Gamecock fans, the alumni, the sporting events, and everything that makes me proud to call Carolina my home!”

Roberts will perform the song live May 10 in Columbia, S.C., at the official kick-off for the ‘Carolina Promise’ campaign. The event will be streamed live online at http://giving.sc.edu/

The song is available now through digital retailers iTunes and CD Baby. The “Sweet Carolina” release is packaged with the original song, an acoustic mix, as well as instrumental versions. Roberts plans to donate a portion of all sales to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity she is passionate about.

Fans can also expect a special music video featuring the recording of the song to be released soon. For up-to-date information, visit www.JulieRoberts.com
